This will be my 21st year in my educational journey. Although growing up in New York, my post-secondary education began at Florida Atlantic University, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood, Elementary and Secondary Education. After relocating to Georgia, I obtained my master’s degree in Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment, as well as an Educational Specialist Degree in Performance-Based Leadership at Valdosta State University.

Before becoming an Assistant Principal, I served as a Teacher, Instructional Coach, School Improvement Specialist, and Reading Endorsement Instructor in Fulton County Schools. Additionally, I have supported school improvement efforts in school districts throughout the state of Georgia as a Language and Literacy Specialist for the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement, as well as a Literacy Mentor at the Sandra Dunagan Deal Center at Georgia College. I have been married to my wonderful husband for the past 24 years, and together we have two amazing children!

Greetings, Spalding High School Parents, Students, Community Partners, and Friends:

I am honored to join Spalding High School's leadership team as assistant principal. I have  been an enthusiastic educator for twenty years and will bring that diverse experience to  this next chapter of my journey.

I began my career in education at A.Z. Kelsey Academy. For 14 years, I positively impacted  the educational trajectory of many students, which greatly contributed to my zeal for  education and passion for helping students.

Following my tenure at A.Z Kelsey Academy, I assumed the role of Virtual Learning  Specialist for the District. In this capacity, I facilitated communication among vendors,  parents, students, and the district to ensure a seamless and successful virtual learning  experience.

Throughout my career, I have maintained a sincere dedication to education and  empowering students to achieve their full potential. I have strived to cultivate a positive  and supportive learning environment for all students and am proud of my profound impact  on countless young individuals.

As I continue as assistant principal at Spalding High School, I am eager to embrace new  challenges and opportunities to enhance the educational experience for our students  further. I am grateful for the opportunities and experiences that have shaped my career and  am enthusiastic about continuing to influence students’ lives for years to come.

I am excited to serve SHS as an Assistant Principal this year.  I am originally from near Johnson City, Tennessee, where I graduated from Science Hill High School in 1992.  I attended Presbyterian College, and I graduated in 1996 with Bachelor’s Degrees in English and Business Administration.  I spent the next 7 years working at Presbyterian College as an admissions officer, working with high school students hoping to attend the college.  In 2003, I moved to Griffin and began my teaching career.

My first two years teaching were in 8th grade Language Arts at Taylor Street Middle School.  In 2005, I came to SHS as an English teacher, and I completed my Master’s degree in Education from Troy University.  As a teacher at SHS, I taught English at every grade level as well as AP Language and Composition and AP Literature and Composition.  The last four years, I have been the Instructional Coach for English at SHS.  I finished my Educational Leadership program at Columbus State University and begun work as an Assistant Principal during the 2021/2022 SY.

I am excited to work with the staff, students, and parents of SHS, and I look forward to a great year!
